** FREE BABYSITTING **
Did you know that Harrington Grove has a Babysitting Co-op? Do you know what a babysitting co-op is all about? Read on to learn more…
The Harrington Grove Babysitting Co-op began in 1991 when a group of mothers got together and decided to exchange babysitting services. Mothers take turns watching each other’s children in exchange for points. The Co-op is free, except for the annual $10 membership dues we collect to cover the cost of supplies and events during the year. Currently, the Co-op has 17 active members throughout Harrington Grove. Our total membership is limited to 30, which means we have room for 14 new members. The size of the Co-op has declined in the past year because a number of members have left the group. Many have moved out of the neighborhood or simply no longer have a need for the Co-op because their children are growing up.
The Babysitting Co-op meets on a monthly basis (except for July and August). Meetings take place in member homes at 7:30 pm on the first Monday of each month. Members are asked to attend at least one meeting per quarter. Members are also asked to use the Co-op (either babysit for someone or have them sit for you) at least once per quarter. Some of the annual events we have include an Easter Egg Hunt, a Fall Cookout, and a Christmas Party/Cookie Exchange.
If you think you might be interested in joining the Co-op, but aren’t quite sure about it…check out the reasons for joining listed below.
